A Summary of the Past Months

It certainly has been a long time since my previous post, so I wanted write up a brief  ”summary” post of what has been going on the past few months. Hit the break to read more…

In June and July, I was working on improving my astrophotography and was traveling around northern Michigan at night to test out various techniques. Some of the images I have posted on here, like the Northern Lights that occurred in June and July. I was hoping for more Aurora activity, but it was quiet unfortunately.

During August and early September, I began doing senior pictures and portraiture photography. This is something that I really never thought I would get into, but I now have come to enjoy it. Portrait photography is very different from what I’m used to doing, so there was  a learning curve (and I’m still learning) but it’s been really fun.

What is on the horizon, the next few months are going to be very exciting. I have a lot of really cool things planned like videos, photo contests, giveaways, and much more. I am making a big “fall color tour” around northern Michigan (something that I couldn’t do last year because a family emergency), so stay tuned for those photos and videos!

Here are two more from a session with Mariah (forgive the quality, I pulled them off Facebook and they lost some detail):

In the past few weeks I have been shifting my focus back to landscape photography for the fall colors. This is by far my favorite time of year because there is so many photo opportunities everywhere. Earlier today I went out to a local waterfall to check out how the fall colors were doing (they were almost peak) and managed to capture a few photos that I liked.

The image below is my favorite, just because of the small mushrooms growing all over the rotting log. I thought about moving it to make a different composition, but the more I looked at it, the more I liked it.

Among this bunch, the nature shots were my favorite too! Nice one, Travis!

Glad to see you back in action, I was wondering what had become of you. Like you, I am very slowly getting into portrait photography, but have yet to do much that I want to share, but your look great.
